Matthew Tehan, AIA was drawn to architecture from a confluence of several interests – art, photography, nature, and design (spurred by a love of Legos) -. Still, the allure that architecture works to solve problems without answers cemented his decision to become an architect. He studied at Virginia Tech, where the architecture program was developed from a Bauhaus lineage that valued process over a solution and taught ‘how’ to learn over ‘what’ to know. That methodology has been reinforced throughout his career in the search for the unique answer for each client and project. The exploration of our colleague’s pursuits and challenges within the greater Phoenix community is why Matthew joined the Tracing Architecture podcast – to share stories and to support continued learning from each other.
